How well can you overclock a FX?

Are the FX decent overclockers? Besides the fact that they're specially binned chips that can sustain the high clocks, is there any more potential beyond their stock speed?

A Venice can hit 2.5. My lowly not-so-overclockable 3500+ gets 2.5.

Not really. Theyre already near their clockspeed limits (2.6ghz and 2.8ghz) so they wont go much farther. Getting an opty 1.8 to 2.8-3.0ghz is far better than getting an FX thats already 2.6 or 2.8 to 3.0 ghz. Some cant even overclock that high. Not really the point in overclocking anyways, as they cost an absolute bomb.

craziness, of course FX are the best clockers, they are binned for the highest speeds and basically cherry-picked

FX-60 has the world record for AMD dual cores
FX 57 holds pretty much all AMD world records
FX 55, 57 are the only chips to have seen 4.0ghz+, except for a single Opty154

World Record OC database @ XS

You want the world records than FX is about the only way to do it.

I am running an FX-57. I paid a mint for it :)

I am happy with it and find it to be a good value for its performance.

For the first time in a long time, I am very happy with my PC's performance!

Hes not after the world record, and the only reason people buy the FX series is because they have too much money or wish to brag about it. But by all means OP if you wanna break a world record net yourself an FX chip and some phase change cooling :) Good luck.

This is not true. I bought it because I like having high end chips and not having to oc the fsb to ridiculous speeds.

My chip is at 3.0Ghz 250fsb and the mem is at 1:1 2-3-2-5 4xHTT

Like I said, I am happy.

I am not rich.
I am not poor.
I am not bragging although I could, my box kicks ass!

Dave :)
