I have to ask how well are these people acting out their emotions?

Perhaps not all of them are doing such a 'natural' job at it...

I got a 24 ...

32. Because I am not a sperglord!

(Actually, there's a feedback between your facial expressions and your emotional state. If you mimic the facial expression, the right emotion will creep back up your nerve endings into your forebrain.)

33, some felt like complete guesses though.. Wasn't even sure what some of the descriptions were trying to imply. Guess going with the gut works?

Your score: 32
A typical score is in the range 22-30. If you scored over 30,
you are very accurate at decoding a person's facial expressions
around their eyes. A score under 22 indicates you find this quite difficult.

The correct answers for the ones you missed are:
8: despondent
11: regretful
17: doubtful
23: defiant

I've been working on this very topic with my 5.5 year old. Kids and Teachers at school say things to him and he doesn't always know how to interpret. I tell him: "It's all in the eyes, that's how to tell what people are really thinking". Guess it works :p

I picked answers to the first 10 and then I gave up.
I can tell which way they are looking, but usually not enough there for me to be able to tell their emotion.

The test sucks, tho. How often do you ever see eyes only, in your everyday interactions?

The eyes / eyebrows tell a lot, probably more than any other facial feature IMO. A very important thing to pay attention to is whether or not the person is looking directly at you, slightly away from you, or completely away from you.

Generally speaking, looking at you means they're determined to get their point across, whether it's happy, angry, etc. Looking slightly away usually shows embarrassment, shyness, guilt, or something similar. Looking far away may show boredom, distraction, or determination on something other than the conversation at hand.

But they're still only one piece of the puzzle.

Maybe I just have an innate need to multitask.

I had no idea about any one of them and essentially guessed. Then it told me that I forgot to specify my gender, so I did and clicked "clear answers" thinking it was the "get score" key. Fuck.

I ain't doing it again, but I know I couldn't have gotten more than half of them right by basically guessing blind. Seriously, none of those pictures seemed to have any correlation to any of the answers to me.

i tend to read faces rather than listen to voices. also i spent a lot of time drawing faces.

i would argue some of the emotions they assigned to some of the eyes were massive stretches. most of them you just use process of elimination to get their 'correct' answer.
