holy hell :(

we put the family dog down a month ago, had him 14 years and he was awesome. what a lousy day that way, i know how you feel.

today i took my kids to the family pond for a couple hours, beautiful day, made pizza for dinner, took it easy. today was a decent friday, not great, but good.

Had food poisoning last night, so I've been shaky and out of it all day today.

Woke up at 12:20 PM, sat around playing ikariam and surfed for any new updates on the Blizzard splash page until around 1. Got on the campus shuttle at 1:20, arrived in lab. Surfed ikariam forums and atot for a while. Now I'm working on my thesis (what I should have been doing all day) hurrah. A pretty average day overall

I woke up at 6, stayed in bed til 7. I worked out with my best friend at 9:30, got back at 11:30, had a protein shake. Then got my Mustang going, helped my grandma move some furniture at her apartment, swam in the pool, went in the Spa and yeah, pretty cool day, but now I'm bored.

Woke up and called in sick, went back to bed, woke up later and verified my new employment, drafted a letter of resignation, spent the rest of the day playing with my kids.

Overall it was a great day and in about two weeks I can finally get on the road to working for myself.

not terrible.

one of The Powers That Be (second person ever to be hired within the company) got fired today, so I stood around doing a lot of gossiping about what the hell happened, which is really me in my element :p OTOH, tensions are starting to escalate with this guy in my department that my boss wants to get rid of and no one likes.

Good so far. On my 3rd beer and feeling surprisingly buzzed. Going to the GF's house in 45 minutes, should be an awesome weekend. Also next Wednesday I leave for a week vacation to northern Utah.

left work at 11 to play in a golf tourney. played decent, and our team came in second place. Got a $50 gc to the pro shop. Bought a $50 Nike shirt that turned out to be on sale for $35, so I got a hat too. Also got a dozen balls for playing. And one of the other guys paid for the greens fees.

and I fired a potential client, so I won't have to go in to work tomorrow.

Pretty intense day at work today. Was sort of hung over from drinking yesterday evening with co-workers. My boss, who got plastered yesterday, decided to "work from home" and we had a meeting with a consultant which I had to man bymyself. My new home closing was in jeopardy because my lawyer forgot about some documents and I had to call a bunch of people to try and get it sorted out. All the while preparing for a massive change to our UNIX environment at work over the weekend (yay, I get to work on Sat. mornings). So from 8:30 - 1 PM, I was worrying about my home purchase/lawyer, preparing for our UNIX environment change (turns out I f'ed up on doing some due diligence work before making the change, help my co-workers set up their application enviornments and had to get some questions in my head for the meeting with the consultant. Didn't even get a chance to pick up some lunch and picked the consultants brain for a good 2 hours and got a lot of useful information. As I get back to my desk, I find out that my lawyer sorted out the document issue and now I have to follow up with a few people to make sure I close on time. Then my boss calls me and I had to give him a summary of what I discussed with the consultant. Then I had to talk to our Managing Director and justify the change that I am making over the weekend... he hammers me with a few questions and I answer them the best I could. After which my Operations manager wanted to get a summary as well. By the time I finish writing an email at 7 PM that contained the minutes of my meeting, I'm burned out not having drank a drop of water since 7:30 AM in the morning... I get ready to go home and have my lunch/dinner at 8 PM. Turned on the computer and whatddya know, I get artifacts all over myscreen. Likely a video card problem... try tinkering out a bit and realize that I may have to goto work tommorrow instead of remoting in. Luckily, it turned out to be an overheating issue and I just had to wait until the card cooled down.. will probably RMA it.

Now I'm typing my stuff on ATOT and have to get up in the morning to call our team in moscow and test out the change that is being made for work.

Pretty eventful and stressful day... I used to freak out about days like this, but now I'm used to it. Sort of become indifferent to everything, its like I'm a little dead inside ;)

I had some major deadlines that required others' input and work. It didn't happen the way it was planned, so I get to explain to my manager why my folks didn't produce like they were supposed to... :(

Overall, had a good week though.

My whole week was pretty bad. Mon. my husband was laid off from his job. Tues. a guy at my work had a terrible accident. He was trapped in a shredding type machine for 30 mins, screaming. He lost his hand. I'll spare the gory details. Wed. ...had to sit in on a meeting regarding those gory details. Almost passed out. Thus. Prison break a few miles from my house. They did finally catch the guy later that night. Fri. Uneventful, thank god.

:(

What do you think a severance is? It's a notice where you don't even have to work.
