I woke up at 5:45am, called my friend at 6:00am, picked up my friend at 6:10am, got to Fry's at around 6:15am. We waited around in line for 45 minutes, talked to the guy behind us and the guy in front of us. We were like #7X in line, I counted twice, but the second time I counted, there were like 5 more people (but two of those people were like 3 year olds). I knew the 5th guy in line too, but it didn't make a difference. Once people were let in, it didn't matter where in line you were, EVERYONE rushed in, this fucktard kept ramming me with his cart (Who the hell brings a cart if you're in the beginning of the line, and the line probably had at least 150 people in it). Anyways, I asked this dumbass CSR right as we got in, where the CDRW's are just because Fry's tends to move things around during sales, he said right ahead, there was NOTHING right ahead, so I went to where people were running for. There were two off the FREE CDRW's left when I got there, I grabbed one of the last ones as this ass tried to knock it out of my hands.
Then, since I only got one, this CSR guy was getting ones from the top shelf (no, I'm not that short, the top shelf is like 15 ft high, where they keep their inventory), and he was basically dropping them to the ground, me being 5'3 and the guys around me probably a good 5 inches taller than me, I litterally snatched one out of the air, then ran to where the hard-drives were. I picked up two of the 80gb hard-drives (one that I later traded away for a webcam for my friend), then there was like this 100 person line for the free 256mb PC133 RAM, I didn't need the RAM, and I can get the RAM later when the crowd dies down. There were also the 64MB FREE Portable Flash HD's or whatever, so I picked up three of those (actually 4, but one was the $85 128MB version). And yeah, since we didn't get a cart because it would have gotten in the way, there was an empty cart that was just in the way that I put my stuff in and made my friend push around 😀
I then wanted to go get the free case, people were standing around looking for this SOYO case and they were trying to match product #'s, so this guy was standing around for like a few minutes he said, then there was some sort of dash to the end of the aisle, so I ran over there, there were probably like 7 cases left, I got one and this other guy got the last one, then I noticed 5 more cases tucked away behind these other over-priced POS cases, I picked up two more (hey, they're FREE and come with a free 300PS), totalling 3 cases.
NOTE :: I took the pictures after my friend left, so my friend has the other
After that, I figured we had gotten everything that I wanted to get, except the Cold Cathodes / LED Fan mod kit for $5, so we went over there and I picked up three of the kits. Then there was like this pile up over at this little place right on the other side of the row, so I head over there, it's the 6 in 1 readers that were free, but there were none left. So I ask the CSR if they have more in stock, she says yes, so I form a line with this Indian dude, it was pretty amusing because I said, "Alright, but I'm first." and the guy behind me (who is like mid 30ish) goes "I'm second" like a little kid 😉 and then there was at least a line of 50 people waiting for these things. I send my friend to go get the Xbox Surge Protectors and the GameCube Starter Packs, 5 minutes pass, I call my friend (on the cell) to see if he's gotten any, he says "He can't find them." So I tell him to go get the Slimline CD Cases, he doesn't find those either.. Anyways, 10 minutes pass, the lady brings down like 10, and the people AT THE END OF THE LINE get all BUT TWO. I got one of those two, I thought that was it, I was the only one who wanted one. Well, turns out my friend (whom I was till on the phone with) wanted one, so I turn back, right as the lady brings another 20 over. My Indian friend grabs at least 5 of them, so I ask him if I can get one more, he doesn't care, so I take one of his. I think I gave him something earlier, but I don't remember what it was)..
On my way to find my friend, I pick up two Xbox Surge things and two GameCube Starter Packs (which my friend didn't find, they were laying out waiting to be taken.. Great eyes my friend), then when I found him, he said they had no more slim line cd cases, I ask a guy, he says they are all out, so I took one out of a cart (yes, I'm an ass, but we later found out there were a crapload of them left, so I blame my friend 😉), I find at least 25 of them on the bottom shelf (it's pretty sad, all the advertised items were on the bottom shelves.. Yeah, so I pick up two more, throw them in the cart (which is REALLY running out of room).
Then my dad came, we got in this LONG ASS line, it had to be at least 3 hours long, which then wrapped around half the store after we had been 30 minutes in it.. We originally got in a line to receive the cases, but found the correct checkout line..
During this time, my friend and I picked up some other stuff. Like these 12X DVD-Rom drives, some 4 Port USB Hubs (one where I had to smack this lady's hand to get her grubby hands off my product 😉), that RAM we were supposed to get with the HD, and an air compressor for my dad.
My friend did manage to find one thing on his own, the CD Stomper Plus labeling system. Yes, all the other stuff seen in these pictures was found, or at least, grabbed by me 🙂 And then here are some pictures of all of it.
Sidenotes
- I originally picked up two hard-drives, one for me, one for my friend, but my friend didn't want one, so I gave it to my Indian friend and my Indian friend gave me the free webcam (which is not pictured because my friend brought it home)
- My dad dropped my friend and me off at Fry's, while he went to Longs. He got the Apex AD-1500's, but since Apex stopped supporting VCD's in their newer versions of their players, we're going to have to return them.
- Fry's charged us for a DVD we did not purchase, and charged us for a Cathode that they did not put in our bag. So I get to go back TONIGHT 😀
I don't know the exact cost, please don't ask, it was a lot though, I assure you. The sad thing, is after rebates, it will only be like $100 + tax 😀
