Entered high school, finished 1st semester with all high A's (nothing special for me) and scored better on the PSAT than ~97% of sophomores who took it (rough, no-math average of three areas). The test bureau saying I could probably score 710 to 800 on the writing portion of the real SAT--as I stand now, a first-year student--is quite reassuring.

Built my first computer. Easy as cake (though I ended up using a power drill to screw my drives on the rails--stupid screwdriver).

Other than that, pretty standard fare.

2004 was a crazy year for me. i started the year off as a computer operator at some database place working nights all alone. was really depressed so i started working out all the time. i basically hated my life at that point

i got really depressed about my job so i looked for another one.

so in april i got a job at an internet security firm in april as a contractor qa technician. i basically clicked buttons in creative ways and wrote scripts. 4 months later i changed positions and was an contractor adware/spyware code analyst at the same security firm and moved out of my parents house and got my own place. the spyware job was kinda boring so i becamse a software qa engineer at the same company, fulltime employee with benefits making like more money than i'd ever expected halfway through december and i start in january. paid for a '05 g35 coupe the weekend after i got that job with money i lucked out and made in stocks the last 3 months because i invested in AMD and nvidia.

so basically 2004 wasnt all that great at first, up until about december when i finally got that permanent job. i had a lot of depressing moments, worked out a lot and gained like 20 pounds doing that. but things started getting good towards the end of the summer when my stocks went crazy. so everything is now good except well im still hopeflessly single.

so based on my recent run of good luck, 2005 is looking real good, or i might get run over by a truck or something. hopefully not the latter.

This year has been really good, now that I think about it... possibly one of the best in recent memory.

--Passed PhD candidacy exam and in doing so received my MS in Chemical Engineering
--Was a graduate instructor in both the spring and the fall, earning an extra $2000
--Practically taught the fall class myself
--Went 8 of 8 in graduate student recruiting in the spring
--Started working out and I've lost close to 50 pounds so far
--No major car repairs, no accidents, no break ins
--EDIT: Came up with the $$$ for a TiVo and to build a sweet new PC

To top it off, I've become friends with a really cool girl, and I'm hoping to take it further, but even if it doesn't happen, I've made a really cool friend.

 Here is to hoping that 2005 is an even better year for everyone!!!

Broke up with my ex-girlfriend right at the beginning of January. I spent Jan - June trying to get over her - going out partying a lot, getting pretty drunk, a few hookups, nothing great. I had a great job over the summer while I was away from school. Came back to school and kicked arse during fall semester. All in all an okay year.

- 2004 was my first full year working after graduating college last June. This July I jumped past my entry level position, up a few levels to a web designer for a northern CA public university.
- Got out of major credit card debt and learned how to budget and save money!
- Had a good time in Vegas

Next year will be great, I'm making plans to purchase a house!

Good- lost 50 lbs., but gained 10-15 back
Good- had lasik surgery (massive headaches were
reduced in addition to pretty decent vision; the bad- lost the ability to cry, minor halo effect at night)

Bad- did a year of law school at night, waste of time and money
Bad- employment; just cannot find a decent job, came within a few weeks of bankruptcy, credit
is ruined at this point. 2.5 years out of grad school, live worse than when I was a student. For the first time
in my entire life, I could get fired (vs. laid off), just don't get along with my manager and supervisor (have been transfered to another area with different manager).
Bad- worked up to 3 jobs at a time while doing law school at night, used the money to buy a car, car was stolen 3 weeks ago, I'm now unable to leave town, travel, see my family, etc.

and this year was a MAJOR improvement on last year

Well, overall I'd have to say that it's been decent. I've definitely matured a lot more as a person (moreso than in 2003) and it has given me an even better outlook on life. I am fully confident that 2005 will be a year for me to remember. I had one serious relationship that lasted all of 6 weeks, and probably would have lasted longer if it wasn't long-distance (no pun intended). Other than that the female department has been totally lacking, but like I said, 2005 will be a good year, I can feel it.

Low point: I had to leave Tucson AZ for Charlottesville VA :(

High Point: Finding a great house to rent made the low point a bit higher.

First off, you stole my idea for a thread ;)

Second, its been a great year:
-lost 30 lbs
-did ok in spring term.
-had the most amazing summer ever
-got a part time job when school started
-still waiting for marks, but I think I did average or slightly better.

Things I want to achieve in 05:
-Lose remaining weight (which will be hard, fscking cardio machine keeps breaking :|)
-start weight lifting
-find a good internship/co-op job - have money for the first time in my life :)
-have fun and enjoy life more (with the help of abovementioned money)

It was a good year over all but I spent way too much time playing computer games (mostly UT2k4) instead of working.
