How useful is color faxing?

So I need to buy a fax machine. I was looking to get a laser based one because of the lower consumable costs. However, inkjet based units often offer color faxing. This would only be useful if a lot of people sent color faxes and I don't know if they do. So is color faxing very useful?

Does anyone that faxes you fax in color? Do you need to fax anyone in color? If there is enough of a "yes" to either question than it's useful. Personally I don't think so, but then I don't send or recieve faxes all that often. I also didn't know color faxing was supported.

Remember - to get color at the other end, the recipient also has to have a color fax. I personally see no reason for it - the bandwidth requirement would really slow down the whole fax process.

Seems like one of those ideas for which there is very little market. I have unplugged my fax machine - I only plug it in when I want to send a fax. I don't want to get fax spam - and that was starting to come. In color that would be expensive. :)

I haven't received any faxes yet but in the line of work I'm entering into, I expect to receive some faxes. I don't really know if many people send color faxes.

It's not very popular, and I imagine the only people who would be actively using it are fax spammers. So save yourself money and skip it.

You are about to enter into the wonderful world of @%&*&^&^%# fax spammers. I hate them more than email spammers.
