How to

test it? in what capacity? power it on and do a factory reset on it for starters, then try to connect to it wirelessly and via wire to hit the setup page. . . that'd be a minimum. .

You can test it by configuring the core IP to a different subnet than your current Network.

Than connect the WAN port of the DGL to your Network Configure the DGL WAN to a main Network IP and test all the functions of the DGL.

In essence you are doing this (for another purpose) - http://www.ezlan.net/shield.html

For testing, I would just factory reset it, and plug into each LAN port, pull a DHCP IP, and ping the router.

To test the WAN I would set up the shield. Or just set it up on the same network and ping away. You need a straight through cable from the WAN port to the LAN of hte main router.

I read that, wasn't really sure what to say so i didn't update. I've setup up a secondary router, and used a straight through. It's possible my setup at MDI/MDI-x autosesning on the LAN or WAN or both, but I never gave it a second thought. Do you not have a x-over cable?

I do have a cross-overcable. I don't want to blow up any router right now, lol. I'm not sure if a straight through would do that, that's why I was asking.

That was fairly simple. The router's IP was already different than the front router so things were just plug in and play. I just had to make sure all RJ45 jacks were gigabit.

Thanks everyone!
