How to Zip a .Avi file?

Trying to zip a 740mb avi file so I can burn it to a CD. How can I accomplish this so It will fit on the cd?

It's probably not going to happen unless you span it on multiple CD's or re encode it using a smaller screen size

Wouldnt you just use WinZip or am I looking over something here.


Just start up WinZip and choose "create a new zip file".

i don't think a .avi file is going to be able to be compressed that much

either you need to convert it using some form of video compression or you need to split it up into 2 parts

you can compress and split up .avi's with virtualdub

you can use winrar and compress it between 2 files.

here are some settings your gonna want to use:

set compression method to store ( this is because avi dosent compress very much anyways, and with store, there is less chance for it to screw up)

and check off "Put Recovery Method"

then just set the volume size to 500,000,000

and it will make 2 files for ya to burn.
