Every time this subject comes up I have to repeat the warning that you don't want to hear. The government only has to turn off the electricity to bring the people to their knees.

No television, no internet, no cell phone transmission towers, no refrigeration, no air conditioning, no gas station pumps, no traffic signals. The police and military would block the freeways and Rambo-style vigilante types would be taken out by snipers.

Not a pretty picture, but the rebels who are fed up are vastly outnumbered by the spoiled sheep who would give in and give up.

Reality, isn't it a bitch. But, let them have their fantasies of revolution. As long as the have their guns, it's like bread and circuses.

You don't think if a branch of government REALLY went overboard the fine men in our military wouldn't defend The Constitution?

And you're calling me the kook? They take their oath very seriously.

They'd do exactly what their commanding officer tells them to. If that involves shooting civilians, they'd do it here just as the same as they did in Iraq.

Have a president try to act like a dictator and is removed by our military in defense of The Constitution.

And since a military coup to remove a sitting President is a gross violation of the Article II, Section 4 and Article I, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, what you're telling us is that you favor a gross violation of the Constitution to "defend" the Constitution.

But then, I'm guessing you have a difficult time reading the Constitution from that vantage point of your head stuck waaaaaaaaaaay up your ass.

Basically as along as people have a stake, aka something to lose, they aren't gonna do anything en masse. The french revolution was basically due to the gross neglect of the starving population by the aristocracy

The first one was done by hand. Then I found useful tools! The FBI will never break it! Viva la revolution!

It kind of fills you with dread that it's possible for the government to oppress and get away with it, should they choose to. In this day and age, security is pretty good :/

That's been the Republican mantra since Reagan and Grover Norquist.

How's that been workin out! I think that's been the Republican plan all along, starting by giving tax breaks to the rich, fighting wars without paying for them. I think it's been done purposely.

Nah.

I was around back then, Reagan et al just wanted it to go on a diet. Make it 'slim down', if you will. And I sure as h3ll don't remember them saying don't pay your taxes.
