So I want to hook up 2 more monitors to my 2 monitors setup. What is the cheapest way and most convenience way?

Thanks,

This typically requires 2 video cards, giving you 4 outputs. Buy a second low-end video card, and away you go for about $30.

It usually works in XP(can be glitchy sometimes). Explicitly disallowed in Vista due to the WDDM driver model changes.

Edit: Also, you don't care about SLI or Crossfire for this as they don't support multiple monitors when enabled(CrossfireX does actually, but I'm not sure if the older ATI cards will work with that or if it is only supported by the 2xxx or later series).

I had a fx5500 PCI as well as my x1650pro in XP. worked out great. just hook up the monitors you dont game or watch movies on and you will be alright. HD movies nearly ate my CPU alive with the fx5500. The x1650 took both processors down to 3-15%. Talk about power.

Get a PCI card. Matrox made plenty of them for dual/quad monitor setups before 3D acceleration was big.
