Stupid question, huh!, but i wanted to buy 2-4 32-40x cd-rs drive so i can record the same cd in quantities.

I want IDE(drives are cheaper) but the ide channel is only 2 devices, if i buy an IDE PCI card can i put like 3-4 cd-rs? i'm looking at software too, I saw NERO had multiple options? how about cloneCD? do you think it will work fine since its on ide, not scsi?

thanx

i can't think of any program that will do that for you but i guess if you put them on seperate ide channels (so you have few bufferunderruns) you could just open two copies of nero and select the opposite burners to go to... just ask long as the ide bus can get the data there i see no problem w/ it... basically just burning two cds at the same time... you wouldn't be able to do a cdcopy but you shouldn't have a problem making an iso and then doing it to both... i have never tried this but there shouldn't be a problem w/ it... maybe the only thing extra you would have to get is another ata controller...

I figured for less problems always burn an Image of what I'm trying to burn. I think i need an PCI IDE card for each cd to have each channel.
Looking at maybe Lite on 32x cd-roms cause they offer great performace at low prices.

The think is, i saw seperate recorders, but they cost a ton. I once saw maximum pc dream machine with 2 cd-rs, thats why i think its posible.

I don't know if you are interested, but there are cd duplicators available to do what you are talking about. They make anything from a one at a time duplicator to a 16 at a time duplicator that will burn 200 - 650MB cd's an hour. These are stand alone units -- no PC required. They are also one button operation. If you are interested let me know and I can get you information on them.

I believe CloneCD works with multiple CD Burners, as does Nero. However, I am not sure exactly how to do it. If the drives have buffer underrun protection, you should not have a problem putting it on the same channel. The fact that it is IDE should not be a problem. Don't go with a standalone duplicator as they will cost you a lot more than a multiple-drive setup.

lol. I should try burning at 4X and at 24X for the fun of it sometime... old scsi burner might be kind of funny to watch.

You should be able to just put them on the same channel an do it, I know for a fact that nero has a multiple burn support. As long as you have the drives on a ATA100+ cable you shouldn't have a problem.

http://www.stompinc.com

both recordnow max and click'n burn pro support "Record to multiple burners simultaneously" (max claims as many as 64 (wow!) and click claims 4).
i'm using max with a single burner now and am pretty happy with it (on xp pro).

check it out...

Thanx, I don't want replicators, cause they cost so much.

I wanted to buy either 2-4 32x cd-rs which can be had for less than $80 for a teac(received good reviews by pcgamer) also maybe buy a IDE card for seperate channels, and thats it.
