How to use MS word stored on the 2nd (data) harddrive

I took the harddrive from a computer with official ms word 2007 installed and put that harddrive into my newly built main computer as a data drive; the new computer has no ms office installed. Does anyone know if and how I could use the ms office stored on the data harddrive while in the OS of the new computer? Thanks very much

P.S. unrelated question: is there a simple way to transfer all the data from data harddrive to the new harddrive, like a command, function, button, etc..

Microsoft Office is not installed in your current system's registry. The Office apps may be on the other drive in your system (and perhaps your data), but you need to install Office on your current system, or find other software which can read your data files.

As for transferring data, your Office settings can be saved under Office and the settings will be in your "My Documents" folder (at least with WindowsXP and Office 2003; Vista and Office 2007 is probably similar.
Actual Office files (macros, dictionarys, etc) will have to be moved by you.

Hi, thanks; so there's no way to just plug in the old drive externally and hit a button to tell the new computer to copy over everything from that drive?

And I also posted the same question in the "Memory and Storage" forum, and the topic has become the only locked thread, does anyone know if it's because I posted same material in 2 forums? they seemed the appropriate places to post, or is memory and storage not for this kind of general questions, or maybe I locked it accidentally myself? thanks

No - Word or Office has to be INSTALLED. It is not a free floating program. However, you can download and install the free OpenOffice and use it to access any of the files you need.
