Hey guys, I got the xbox dashboard update.

When I click on the IE icon, it only gives me the option to "Pin to home" or "Rate"

How do I use Internet Explorer?

I was impressed with IE on the XBOX. I loaded the new dash update last night and played around with IE for a bit. At times, the scrolling was extremely laggy but others it was absolutely smooth. The cursor is easy to control and I like how it changes color when you're over a link so you'll know you're good to "click". Lack of flash doesn't bother me.

Overall, not bad, not bad at all.

Is this update necessary? I still have nightmares when the fall 2010 update hosed/bricked one of my 360s.

I agree. I get to make use of my chatpad, and normally I'm not a fan of internet on the tv, but they made this really smooth and easy to use. The sticks as the mouse is cool.
It made me go back and use the YouTube app to tease my cats with cat meowing videos for half an hour too.

Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg once described web browsing on a TV as a poor experience, explaining to Edge Magazine that the Xbox 360 simply wouldn't be getting a web browser. "Sure, you can go on the PS3 and go to Facebook and try to navigate" he argued, "but it's an absolute nightmare." Foot, meet mouth. The web browser Microsoft announced at E3 is finally here, regrettably living up to Greenberg's predictions. It just isn't a good experience.

Updated last night. Browsing is pretty good actually. And my tv is over 5 years old.

I've been enjoying it a lot! I've been without a laptop for a few weeks now, so this + a usb keyboard is perfect.

I used it and it was pretty good. I then got the Smart glass app for android so I can use my phone as a touch pad/keyboard which is really cool.

Where did you get the app? I looked all over on the Play market on both my JB rom loaded Incredible & my Nexus 7 and did not see it and there's no link to it on xbox.com/smartglass .

Pay for IE? Next I'm going to see Xbox's bundled with free copies of Netscape.
