I often play NHL2004. I installed it using my CD-RW drive, drive G. Now, when I try to use my other CD-ROM drive, drive H, to play, it always tells me to insert the disc into drive G. How do I switch it to read from drive H?

Unfortunately reinstalling the game isn't really an option because I've done so many customizations and updates that it would take hours to get them back. =/

Thanks

Try searching through your registry for entries related to the game and G:. If you're lucky all you may have to do is replace a G with a H. :)

Enter the name of the game in your search function. Make sure that you back up the registry first. The location may be referenced in more than one location also.

A lot of people (like me) make their CD drive something like X: so it never gets bumped. You might want to do that before fixing all your shortcuts.

better yet, just grab a no cd crack from gamecopyworld
or, use an app like alcohol 120% to mount the image

The gamecopyworld thing was going to be my suggestion.

I changed my cd drive and had the same thing happen, i went to c/windows found the .ini file for the games i didn't want to reinstall and changed the path to the new drive. you'll have to look, it may have several references to the drive, make sure you change them all.

Thanks much! I found the registry setting, and it didn't take too long. Only two, and they were both in the same place. :D

For the person who asked why I don't use my CD-RW drive, it's because I also often burn CDs, so that means swapping cds around a lot, and though it's not that much work I prefer to just keep it in my normal CD drive.
