I'm starting to see threads pop up which go along the lines of "I just upgraded to an X2 and put it in and now windows doesn't boot" or similar.
Most peoples solutions tends to be akin to the "Microsoft fix-it-all, format-n-reinstall" (haha I just made that up now and it rhymes aren't I clever)
Anyway, my X2 3800 (939) will be here very shortly, and I'm upgrading from a 3500+ and I just formatted this month and would not want to do it again anytime soon.
That being said, what should be done prior to the hardware installation to prep the PC? Should I remove the old processor in device manager? Install some drivers (don't know which?), the AMD dual core optimizer? isn't there some microsoft hotfix around- is it useful?... or is there no solution whatsoever except format?
