How to upgrade notebook CPU

I have a Lenovo Edge 15 (AMD P340)and X200t (Intel SU9400) and am wondering if I can upgrade the processors on these (and if so, how)?

On my old (2007) HP pavilion the CPU was swappable. Just for the sake of science i downloaded the dismantling manual and took it apart (for no real reason other than it was getting old). 3000 screws and 3 hours later i got to the chip, surprisingly it wasn't soldered onto the motherboard and was in an interchangeable socket. Then i threw it in the bin!

That particular laptop came with an AMD cpu, but could be purchased with various AMD CPUs depending on how much you spent. Goto the manufacturers website and have a look at the laptop in question, if it says this laptop is available with CPU A/B/C then it's most likely swappable.

I personally would never do it unless it was out of warranty, i'd rather just buy a new laptop 🙂. It is good fun though!
 
I'm gonna go with "no."

The Intel ULV processors are on a different socket type than the mainstream mobile. The SU9600 is basically as good as it gets (one notch above yours) on the low-power end.

For the Edge, I'm not seeing many Socket S1 processors faster than what you already have. It would be more cost-effective just to go with a new machine when you need it.
 
Probably the best upgrade for a laptop is an SSD drive. For me, i'd have to look for an IDE SSD which are still a little expensive but maybe worth the hassle.
