I'm looking at buying the same board. Does it support the coppermine. Does it support processors requiring 1.65 volts?

I would suggest going with a Cel II 566 and trying to overclock to 850mhz. I think that's a 1.5 volt processor.

Otherwise you could go for any celeron II if the motherboard supports the voltage. Most of the faster Celeron ii's require 1.65 volts and I'm not sure if the ZM-6 supports it.

The last BIOS said the board supports up to a Celeron II 600. So I know it should run a Cel II 566.

Hope this helps. A little help with my questions above would help me a great deal.

I thought that motherboards with PPGA sockets wouldn't support Celeron II's because they use FC-PGA sockets. Plus there's the whole 66MHz FSB (Cel I) vs. 100MHz FSB (Cel II) issue. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the best you can do is a Cel I 600MHz.

Anything above a cel 533 (and some cel 533's) are celeron II's in that they are made with the 0.18 micron die size. Cel I's are made with 0.25 die size.

I do believe that you are correct in that the zm6 will only support up to 600 mHz. However, those 566 and 600 cel II'l will easily run 800.

I Know the ZM6 will support up to a 600 Mhz cel II's. All 566 and 600 Cel II's are FC-PGA's, not PPGA's

You are right but I still am wondering about the socket. ZM6 is PPGA right? Can you put a FC-PGA in a PPGA socket? Didn't think you could, but I may be wrong.

Apparantly the PPGA and FCPGA sockets are similar enough to accept them.

Geometrically, the two are identical. The big difference is the core voltage requirements.

Since the zm6 can support cel II 566 and 600's at 1.5 volts, but not the cel II 700+ requiring 1.65 volts (don't these have the coppermine cores?), that may be where the real difference between the sockets is ...... the coppermine core support.
