How to unpartition the HD

I have a Gateway laptop with 200GB HD, which Gateway, for reasons unknown, split into two equal partitions. Is there a program I can use (preferably a free one obv 😉 which would allow me to lump the partitions back together without reinstalling the OS?

The main OS partition has everything on it. The other one is completely empty.

Thanks guys.

Piece of cake. Presumably you have VISTA. Just delete the D partition & use the built in utility to expand C to fill the remainder of the drive.

Did you turn on viewing of hidden and system files, to make sure the other partition doesn't have recovery files or something? You can do that from Windows Explorer, or do dir /a on the drive from a command prompt.

its always risky to your data to do this. failed repartition on the fly will mess it all up.

beware.

do you have vista restore discs? if theres nothing but a hidden restore partition on the drive for you then also be careful.

Thanks. This worked like a charm. Took less than 10 seconds total for both operations.
