HOW TO UNDERCLOCK ATHLON C ON MSI MOBO

on a k7master, theres all the overclocing options, but i can only underclock the fsb and not the multiplier... i wanted to bump up the bus with pc2400 ram and lower the multiplier for cooling issues....

anyone help plz?

also, its at 60 celsius, with stock fan, loadsa grease and one case intake and one case exhaust....wtf!!??!

way to high for me.... im scared to overclock

1. Get rid of stock fan -> Buy SK-6 or something equivalent (much better than stock)
2. The multiplier on nearly every Athlon is locked.. you have to unlock it if you want to change it..read http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1345&p=1

it is unlocked, but i can only raise it, not lower it past defaults...

Sounds like a motherboard issue to me.. you have the latest BIOS?

Loads of grease? If so this is supposed to be a very thin layer just enough to cover the core. You should definitly
buy a better cooling fan to replace that retail one.

I personally dun like temp over 65C f/load. But if ur system is stable...no worry. Termal compound should be thin layer only (ASII reccommended). U need a better HSF to O/C.
