When i studying SATA protocol, I noticed that one of the defined FIS types is BIST Activate. However, while working with a Broadcom 9500 series HBA, I’ve never seen the card actively send this FIS.
I tried checking the MPI (Message Passing Interface) documentation, but couldn’t find any related command or way to trigger it manually.
Has anyone ever experimented with this, or does anyone know whether the Broadcom 9500 actually supports initiating a BIST Activate FIS? Any insights or experience would be greatly appreciated.
