I have a horrible pain in my right ear, and I'm guessing its swimmer's ear as we've been swimming in school. Anyone had it or know how to treat it?

Have someone kick you in the groin. I guantee the pain in your ear will drop dramatically.

I used to get it all the time. Go to the Doctor's and get some perscribed drops. They work really well. I don't remember what they're called though.

The ear drops are awesome. They'll clear it up in no time. I don't know if there's another way to get rid of it, because I've never had the patience to sit around with a pain like that in my ear.

Another vote for the drops. I used to swim competitively and I used these preventitive drops after each practice that would dry up any water that was stuck in there. If you are going to be swimming a lot you might want to check them out.

50/50 mixture of alchohol and vinegar...then drop it in and work it around for about 30 seconds. Obviously, drain it out afterwards.

Vinegar will kill the bacteria and alchohol will work to dry out the ear. Trust me, I scuba dive for work everyday in water that's loaded with fish, fish food and all the accompanying juices/bacteria/algae/etc...this helps.

A heating pad will help ease the pain.

Keep a cotton ball in there to keep out the draft, especially after you use the drops.

It sounds ridiculous to me, but my instructor for an aquatics class I'm taking said that you can tilt your head and hop on one foot which can help to get the water out.

She actually had all of us students do it in class...I felt like a retard.

that's to dislodge water way inside. which causes discomfort. it works.

Yea, go with the prescribed drops. I'm not one for home remedies.

Ok course you aren't. You are studying to be a doctor, you have a vested interest to keep people away from home remedies.
