I've got an old IDE hard drive. I'd like to transfer the data to the SATA drive in my new machine. How can I do this? Is there some device I can buy that will allow me to use the ATA drive as an external drive, with a USB interface?

Yes! I missed it the first time (it's sideways) . The manual call its a "primary IDE connector". That's it, right? I'm a bit confused between IDE and ATA.

Yes, you can plug your old drive into the motherboard's 40-pin IDE connector.

What for years was called "IDE" is now called PATA. <shrug>

Many mobo's no longer have a PATA connector, but if yours does, you're good to go.
