This may be a stupid question, be gentle. Actually, I do know one method : peer to peer network. However, I need another method (without involving networking experience) (so that my gf can do it easily)

I've been looking around google, and this came up. Does the laptop have USB? That looks pretty good to me, but if I find anything else I'll edit my message. Godd luck on the hunt for PC to Laptop file tansfer. :p

EDIT: Then there is this... much like the item above

Here is the link for laplink http://www.laplink.com/

Also for mobile related products, iGo has nice items too.

or get a usb cdrw and some re-writable disks, I have the same problem and use either a usblinq cable, a pcmcia memory card (compact flash) or hook my cdrw. all have advantages / disadvantages.

If you just want to transfer data, laplink and one of those USB data transfer cables will do.
The cheaper alternative is to get a crossover cable and connect them directly. Install NetBui (sp) and you're set. There are guides at www.practicallynetworked.com
