Seems like it would be fun. Anybody have any training tips or a schedule I could follow?

Is this the one where you run for 20 miles, swim for 5 miles, then bike for 50 miles?

Training for the Ironman? That's one hell of a challenge. :)

We've talked a bit about the Accenture Chicago Triathalon there, but that isn't quite the Ironman. I'm sure we could cook up some advice for ya though... (well, I couldn't, but some of the users there could)

Best information that I have found for training for Tri's:

Trinewbies

If has various training programs for various lengths of Tri's. Sprint, International/Olympic, and 1/2 and Full Ironmans.

Be forwarned, the training for an IM is supposed to be intense. I would recommend that you train for and run in a shorter distance first.

I am current training for the Chicago Tri in two weeks. It will be may second tri.

P.S. I met a Triathlete out swimming one day, and he described Tri's as "as addictive as Coke, but only more expensive." I am beginning to believe it.

YOu should start with a mini triathlon or half triathlon. That's what I did. Much easier, and gets you ready for the big dog.

I have done a couple of International distance triathlons and they were fun, but I honestly can't imagine doing an Ironman. My hats off to you if you succeed, but don't take it lightly - this is an insanely challenging event.

i was told by someone training for the ironman in hawaii that swimming is first because if it came after one of the other legs, you would die :). any competition where the order of the events is literally of life or death importance sounds like fun to me! good luck!
