faye

Platinum Member
got the game,
how do u timedemo ?

i want to post a benchmark.
of course people can post their score here

thanks

Saw this at one of the fan-site forums but haven't got the game yet

1) Toggle the console by pressing CTRL + ALT + Tilde Key (~)
2) Type "timedemo demo1" without the quotes, and press enter
3) The first run will probably be very choppy as the system caches all the graphics and sounds. After it is done, repeat steps 1 and 2 for a more accurate, smooth run

i guess running it the first time is the most accurate test.!!

yes i will do it now..

ok, here is how

hit CTRL + ALT + ~ for console,

in the console type

timedemo demo1

first time i ran it at 1280*1024@medium
i got 69.1seconds = 31.1fps
2nd time i got 64.5seconds = 33.3fps

My system: P4-2.4C @ 3.2Ghz / 1GB Geil DDR3500 / 9800Pro @ 405/390 -- WinXP Pro SP1 fully patched

My results (High quality - no AA/8xAF - ran the test 2 times using the second as the result)

1024x768 -- 44.8
1152x864 -- 39.0
1600x1200 - 20.8

FWIW these are numbers with my 9800Pro at default

1024x768 -- 44.9 (found this odd)
1152x864 -- 35.6
1600x1200 - 20.2

Edit: It appears as though something is wrong with my or faye's numbers as his system is faster than mine with the exception of me having 2x the RAM. Is it possible that's holding him back that much?

Edit2: As those right below me pointed out high quality enables 8x AF by default and I have mine set on "application preference" so apparently mine is enabled. I corrected my post - thanks for the info guys!

Lack of ram is a killer with some of these new titles so it's a good guess at any rate.

Note to people above - High Quality setting enables 8x AF by default, unless you override it in the CP.

P4 2.4 (Northwood)
1Gb
6800GT (420/1130)

High Quality

1600 x 1200 0xAA 8xAF - 50.3fps
1600 x 1200 2xAA 8xAF - 47.5fps
1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF - 40.1fps

A64/1GB/6800NU

11X8 High Quality Quincunx 8X AF

45fps first time through, 53fps second time through. I'll post a variety tonite when I have time.

Man, you 6800 owners are starting to piss me off... 😛 😉

/runs off to see if the BFG is available anywhere...

Just got mine installed... Gonna go run some benchies

Runing this puppy on
Dell D800
Pentium M @ 1.7GHz w/2MB L2 Cache
512MB RAM
nVidia GeForce 2GO 5650 w/128MB RAM
Hitachi 60 GB 7200 RPM HDD

EDIT:
Med Quality
800x600 Default - 9 FPS

Low Quality
640x480 Default - 14 FPS

Where is everyone getting this game from!?! I know some people got it from Best Buy in Sat, but supposedly they stopped that. I checked around a number of stores around Atlanta, and nothing...

Alot of Gamestop and EB shops got it today and are selling to preorder people only first.

2.8C @ 3.3
9800 Pro, 380/340
1GB ram

using timedemo demo1, 2nd run

1024x768, Medium: 45.8
1024x768, High: 41.6

1280x1024, Medium: 31.3
1280x1024, High: 29.0

Jealous of those 6800GT numbers... 🙂

I just came back from the future (2008) and tested Doom3 with ATI's new Radeon XIII800 XT 2GB GDDR5 with 64 pixelpipelines running at 1000 MHz and RAM at 2400MHz (4800MHz).

I got 573 fps playing Doom 3 at 2048x1536 with 64xAF and 32X AA. A little low for 2008 but then I was only running a Pentium6 20GHz overclocked to 28GHz and 10GB of PC16000 QDR3-SDRAM.😉

Oh man that's disappointing. I need a new graphics card so I can run at 1280x1024.

I'm wondering if there's a feature we can disable that will significantly boost performance on older cards like the 9700/9800's.

Here is a comparison between P4 2.4 and P4 1.8 (downclocked)

P4 2.4 (Northwood)
1Gb
6800GT (420/1130)

High Quality

1600 x 1200 0xAA 8xAF - 50.3fps
1600 x 1200 2xAA 8xAF - 47.5fps
1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF - 40.1fps

P4 1.8 (Northwood)
1Gb
6800GT (420/1130)

High Quality

1600 x 1200 0xAA 8xAF - 38.1fps
1600 x 1200 2xAA 8xAF - 36.7fps
1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF - 33.5fps

So, if you have slow cpu and powerful card, might as well turn everything on 🙂
