how to 'third party' a check?

My grandfather gave my mother a check, who doesn't have a bank account. She asked me to deposit it for her, wait for it to clear, and give her cash.

How can I do that? Our last names are the same (of course) if that helps - I'm assuming she signs it, then I sign underneath her name? Or does she need to write 'for deposit into the account of.." on it?

perhaps you and your mother could go into your bank together and the nice bank person could help you

good luck! :sun:

Do exactly as poster above said. She said, 'pay to the order of your name', you sign it. Us banks aren't trying to make your lives difficult 😉
