I have a ss-660XP platinum. there was a lightning strike near my home and everything seemed fine but now 1 day later my pc wont come on. I wanted to test my psu with the old paperclip trick but all the wires are black what do i do?
Would you suggest i get a proper psu tester? Is there also a motherboard tester as well. Maybe i should get these tools since i build pc's all the time for my family. Is there any other maybe tools that I should have?
I have an old retired platform - I think it is an AM3 w/ dual core CPU - HSF - .5 GB ram and a 1.2 GB HHD loaded with Linux and a few test routines mounted on a piece of 1/4" plywood that I use as a PSU tester Works for Me , and it was ( sorta ) free
The very first thing I do with a suspect PSU , Is open the case and look at the Caps , swelled up tops or a wet spot near the bottom and I replace them or toss the PSU.
Yep i checked those. I did the jumper test as per your post Pick2 it did not turn on. I have decided to take my time and use caution. So i ordered a PSU tester will check the PSU properly.
