Right now I'm having this problem.

Basically people on my CS server get connection problems every half hour or so. I want to do a test to see if my internet connection can go for a long period of time without a break in activity for any reason. Is there anything I can do this with?

ping.

search for a tool called ping plotter. You really shouldn't get any packet drops on a broadband connection. .1% at most.

-edit- www.cisco.com responds to pings.

How do I tell if there are gaps in the connection while using that program?

Right now often it will say 10% packet lost on any of the jumps.

That's rather strange, because there was 10% packet loss pretty often, like at least a few times every minute, but during CS games it happens maybe once every half hour or so, but its not a set amount of time either.

Rerun your tests without any routers/switches, etc in the loop. Just a PC and your broadband connection.

If you still experience packet loss then call your ISP as something is very wrong.

I just realized something. The thing with CS where it has a connection problem doesn't exist when I'm playing via internet on a server. It only happens to people connected on MY server behind the same ISP and router that I play through.
