How to tell your neighbor politely about his Harley Davison?

I don't have the luxury not going to work, nor ride w/ the wind whenever I feel like it...
And some people talk "big", some people act "hot" but that really doesn't bother me.

But that bike really really really annoying the hell out of me.
Please, it is 11:00PM! Or 7:00AM on the weekend...

This is one of the "loud" All-American tradition I really can't stand it.
How can I politely inform my neighbor about his bike but not been accused of no-love to All-American?

I had one of "those neighbors" at my last house.
Just make sure to allow the realtor to take people through the house when you know "he" won't be around

Oh, and fuck 50616

because technically it's legal in that it's helping them be seen by other motorists.

Because you don't fall off a car...

The city I live in has a law for motorcycles. (don't remember the exact times, but you can't use them at night)

I don't know, bring over a 6 pack of Schlitz and wax poetic about how cool those quiet goldwings are?

Personally, I would rig up some kind of parabolic directional speaker thingy and see how much of a death metal fan he is (if he is, switch to Yanni)

Certain freedoms suck. 🙁 No common decency for other people around is more suck and makes you want to punch them in the face. :|

case in point - try living next to this guy and hearing that every damned day.

Generic AT responses:
- have you tried talking to them?
- do something about it or quit complaining
- move

Yeah, is that what people do when they are annoyed by crying babies? Don't you wish those people would REALIZE how fvcking annoying it is for everybody else? Some people simply don't care as long as they're ok with it. /shakes head in disgust.

I think it's funny how you people are characterizing this Harley rider as some rough and tumble dude.

Most Harley's are purchased by yuppie's looking for fun on the weekends.

Not yuppies. Yuppies buy BMW M3s. Harley owners are suburban soccer dads acting out against their stifling families and hum drum lives.

I would start with an anonymous note in his mailbox. Don't be shitty about it, just explain that it's really loud and you'd appreciate it if he could try to stay out of the throttle while he is in the neighborhood. If he's a nice, normal and reasonable person he will do his best to keep it down.

Don't spread that crap, even if you are trying to be sarcastic. there will be some person that reads that and spreads it around. The AMA is working their ass off to ge tthat idea out of the publics head, all it ends up doing is hurting ALL riders by more land closure and more laws on bikes.

Loud pipes do not save lives. Smart and reactive riding does. I ride every day in rush hour type traffic, I hate it but I'm not giving up my right to ride.

I agree with you, and if he was considerate he could likely start his Harley more quietly and be mindful of his neighbors.

Loud pipes don't save lives unless you're surrounded by convertibles and everyone is moving at about 10 mph.

Yeah that would suck waking up with wood every single morning.

I know you're trying to be funny, but do you honestly think everyone else around doesn't mind?

If I'm a parent and used to babies crying, I may not care about other babies crying in a restaurant. So... screw everyone else too?

A. It is NOT legal. If he has straight pipes, they will be marked "for off road use only". There is already legislation being worked on to put larger penalties on loud pipes in most areas.

2. Loud pipes do NOT save lives. The greatest danger to motorcyclists is other drivers turning in front of them. You never hear a bikes exhaust when they are coming towards you at speed. Only when they pass, are beside you, or blast away from a stop.

III. Loud exhausts are for chodes that want to scream "look at me and my chrome covered winky extension". 😀

As it has been pointed out a lot of aftermarket pipes are NOT legal. Factory harley pipes are not that loud. Yea you can hear them more then a car but not as loud as the video posted above.

That's a good idea. Thanks!
