How to tell the difference between new vs reman CV axle?

The outer CV boots for both my fronts have been torn for 8 - 12months but have not made any noise...

Figured I might just change it anyways instead of waiting for it to make noise.

Question now is, how do I tell the difference between a new CV axle vs a remanufactured axle aside from price?

Edit: For a 99' Maxima if it makes any difference 🙂

Go with one from advance auto parts/autozone. I know people at the maxima forums horn over raxles axles, but they are really expensive. I replaced my 2000's front axles (both) two years ago. No problems so far but probably only 15k on them.

Get a re-manned one, and save the extra money.

Depends, I could get a brand new one for the same cost as a remanufactured one for my Camry. I can't remember what company it was from but it was a reputable company.

Yah I thought it'd be nearly impossible to tell them apart by viewing 🙁

Was planning to get a reman unless the reman is close to the price of a new one...

One wouldn't think it would be so close in price, but after looking at autozone's website, oddly enough a new one was cheaper than a reman axle by roughly $5 dollars... Same duralast brand as well and same specs.

If I were to go to say napaonline.com to find the parts, reman and new difference is roughly $30 - 50 which is more of what I had in mind.

Hopefully my replacement axles last me awhile... Will most likely go to autozone since they're close by and this is afterall a 10yr old car now, no need for expensive raxles - not like I will be going to the track with this car.
