How to tell if Samsung Ram is True Samsung Ram?

Is there a way to determine if both the board and PCB is made via Samsung besides the vendor flat out saying so (like newegg)?

I'm helping a friend build a system and am trying to convince him to get PC2700 over PC2100 and am trying to find the cheapest place to buy true Samsung PC2700 RAM (hoping its cheaper than Crucial PC2100).

Thanks

Keeping hoping then. True Samsung ram is around 150 for 512mb stick, while Samsung chips on generic PCB is around 130. I don't think it matters if you're not overclocking. My buddy is using Samsung ram with generic PCB in his Asus A7V333 board, no problems.

You could call or email the company and ask if SAMSUNG is on one edge of the PCB and what the decal on the memory chips reads.

Ok, thanks for the help. There is no way to tell just by looking at the model number?

If you have the model # from the vendor, just type it in the search on samsung's site. I think they're all listed in one place or another.
