How to tell if a Win XP CD has been activated?

I need to find out if an XP cd has ever been activated (or I guess more importantly) if it's still activated. How to do?

Do they have a web form? Can I call them? What's the number?

What's the phone number? I can't figure it out without first trying to install it. I'm just trying to sell one that I bought off someone else.

I searched and searched and I did find a tech support line, but you only get 2 calls and then they charge you after that. I couldn't find an activation number.
