I just need to find out how to tell for sure if a processor has been fried. I had a very corput image file burnt to cd kill my computer. The motherboard was affected by this, and replaced, and my computer has not been working correctly since. I get OE exception errors, and a lot of my programs lock/crash on my and it is getting very frustrating. Up untill this point I had no problems, everything was stable.

Problems like that are usually memory related.

This statement makes no sense to me "I had a very corput image file burnt to cd kill my computer. "

Unless you opened your case, you really cannot hurt the hardware of your computer (except for overclocking by menus). But even then, ususally the system will lockup before dammage occurs...usually.

Also, when making posts like this, take your time writing it. Describe your computer's components. Was the system working before, what did you do, what does it do now, etc...

Good Luck!

is there any place to take a processor chip and test it for "friedness"? my girlfriends mother's computer was apparently "struck by lightning" as they say and she gave me the whole damn machine..............if its just a bad mobo, i want to get a new one, but, if its a bad processor, i will just get a new one of those...............obviously. so, i want to test the damn chip but have no idea where to do that. the box has a burned smell to it, so i'm thinking some part on the mobo might be the fried part. thanks.
