How to take off my Volcano 2?

Okay a m8 had offered me his old ThermoEngine, so for once and for all I can get rid off this crap V2(makes my case vibrate).

Okay so I had hard to getting this ****** on, and now trying to get it off.
I used a flat head screw driver to push down on this little nob on one of the hooks that connects the HSF to the socket holder. Anyway it's right bang across the road from some capacitors, and when I try and push down, then try and push outward (trying to release the hook), my flat head screw driver slips and almost knocks off some capacitors and almost cuts the mobo.

Any tips on how to get this ****** of a HSF off.

Also if anybody is thinking off getting this HSF becuase it's cheap and can do sufficient cooling, then don't bother, it's a bitch to get on and off, and it rattles and vibrates stuff.
It's another crap HSF from ThermalTake.

Thx for any help!!!

use a smaller flathead so it'll fit in the metal clip...then push down and then outwards away from the cpu. Or get a more mechanically inclined tech to do it.

You can wrap the head of your screwdriver in duct tape so that it has more grip and if you slip off its not as likely to damage the mobo. Also get a second much smaller screwdriver to reach behind the clip and pry gently outward after you are pressing downward with the wrapped one.

I am also worried about harming the Duron core, while I am trying to get it off.

If you dont want to keep it, just cut the clip with some diagonal pliers (dikes) :D

put one hand under the heatsink to support it, and in the other a small, flathead screwdriver that fits into the clip right by the knob. Push the clip down and then lightly pry it outwards, and it will come right off.

I've found that the V2 is much easier to mount and take off than my FOP 32 or PEP66.

Like the Ronco Showtime "Set it and.....FORGET IT!!" LOL

Seriously, that clamp is one BAD design. Very stiff and difficult to pry outwards. The best clamp type bracket is the Taisol's version. IMO :) But I like the Swiftech's bolt-on type even better.
