I was born and raised in Oklahoma and have lived in the north and traditional south. I don't know where you're getting this provincialism nonsense. I've never heard a reasonable person make derogatory remarks about the south, but then again, it depends on your company; hang around with ignorants and you're more likely to hear ignorant statements. I prefer to surround myself with quality people.

My experiences mirrors you; raised in Texas, and now recently moved to Pennsylvania and it does depend with whom you are speaking in regards to the comments that are made.

However that is "real life" and when reading ATOT I would say a majority of the population here falls into the ignorant and clueless category.

Dude you didn't fight for America. You fought against.

If you are referring to:
Accept that the south has given the lives of countless sons and daughters in the defense of The United States of America. By ignoring this fact, one is perpetuating provincialism.

I am talking about all of the southern men and women that fought and died for the United States of America in the (no order) Mexican/American War, War of 1812, Revolutionary War, World War I, World War 2, Vietnam, Korea, Persian Gulf, etc.

Thank you OP. I agree.

I used to work in the oil patch with an old Eye-Tie. In high case letters the name on his shirt was,

WOP. Hey WOP, how ya doin'. Pretty good you stupid Polock 😛

WOP has nothing to do with Italians, it just stands for, with out papers. Meaning illegal entry.

...and so is bringing out the fact that "The South" is responsible for providing any of those "countless songs and daughters." It's the USA, not "The South" and "The North."

That said, Confederate Flags rule.

All that is modern America is because of the North winning that war.

To me putting the confederate flag on your car is worse than putting an Al Qaeda symbol

You're a complete idiot.

I couldn't tell which side of the fence you were on until after the 4th bullet mark.

But I will say this, there are retards on both sides, so it's futile to preach to anyone.

good comment

I fly my Soviet flag out of my car and put it on my house.

Why would you, as an asian, fly a soviet flag? 😕

Lol i could be Chinese.

but im not, im vietnamese and it was just a random thing for me to say.

But there are still Communist supporters in the Vietnamese community, very few but some. Remember that one guy who put up a North Vietnamese flag and a picture of Ho Chi Minh in his video store a few years ago when Clinton was still president? Woo so many protestors outside. It was cool cause i live like a mile away from the store.

anyone else get annoyed by the fact that the OP repeated "By creating a division here, one is perpetuating provincialism" on every freakin line... i wanted to create a division in his face...

what point would that be?

To have some pudgy internet dweeb look down his nose at us Rednecks is only fair, we do the same to them.

Hey living in a Trailer Park is exciting, haven't any of you ever seen a episode of "Cops"? Not a weekend goes by without something going on.

To all you "well educated" people. I was born in Alabama, raised in Georgia, do not own a "Stars and Bars" flag, have never slept with a member of my family, an animal, or told any one to "squeal".

My grandfather was a "redneck" as in he earned a living working on his farm, thus getting a red neck. He also served his country in WWII in the Navy.

Now, go ahead, make fun of us "ill educated" slack jawed, inbred, sheep screwing, racist, rebel flag waving, gun shootin', yocals.

Yep, the only people you can make fun of now is Straight American White Males, because if you make jokes about anyone else you are a racist, homophobic, sexist, pig. But if you make fun of the straight white male, then it is all cool, and you score extra points if he just happens to be from the south.

I don't think working on a farm would make your grand pappy a redneck. I think being a racist moron who proudly displays the confederate flag on his nasty ass pickup truck, who has an ugly ass mullet, is drunk 90% of the time, beats his wife, gets filmed on the show Cops, etc. etc.... THAT would make him a redneck.

I don't think.

Redneck: It originated in reference to agricultural workers, alluding to how the back of a person's neck will be burned by the sun if he works long hours in the fields.
