My experiences mirrors you; raised in Texas, and now recently moved to Pennsylvania and it does depend with whom you are speaking in regards to the comments that are made.

However that is "real life" and when reading ATOT I would say a majority of the population here falls into the ignorant and clueless category.

I am talking about all of the southern men and women that fought and died for the United States of America in the (no order) Mexican/American War, War of 1812, Revolutionary War, World War I, World War 2, Vietnam, Korea, Persian Gulf, etc.

...and so is bringing out the fact that "The South" is responsible for providing any of those "countless songs and daughters." It's the USA, not "The South" and "The North."

It was cool cause i live like a mile away from the store.

I think being a racist moron who proudly displays the confederate flag on his nasty ass pickup truck, who has an ugly ass mullet, is drunk 90% of the time, beats his wife, gets filmed on the show Cops, etc. etc.... Redneck: It originated in reference to agricultural workers, alluding to how the back of a person's neck will be burned by the sun if he works long hours in the fields.
