How to stop iphone from downloading latest iOS update

My iphone keeps automatically downloading the latest iOS update despite having all automatic download options set to OFF in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and randomly pops up the message to install the update. Considering the phone is 3 years old now, and thus very laggy, I really have to pay attention to keep them from tricking me into an installing. The reason for not updating is several apps that I use are not 64 bit I want to continue to do use them. I have now deleted the update that the phone has automatically downloaded TWICE, but I'd like to prevent it from downloading in the first place. How can I do this?

You can install the tvOS beta profile and it'll block all the updates for you. It'll install a feedback app on your phone but it's legit and you can just put it away in a folder if you'd like!

I just had to delete the download for a third time.

Yes but you can download the profile onto your iPhone and prevent it from checking for any updates. Have it installed myself!
