It's a shame you can't find any for sale at the moment. I'd jump all over it.

I've always been a big fan of the moddable cards. 9500np, 6800nu, x800gto2, x800p vivo. It's just the feeling of getting something for nothing, and having the know how

Don't forget the newer ones (x1800gto and 7900gto). The 7900gto was a steal at $225 for what was basically a $400 7900gtx.

Nice Canada Computers has one. Only downside is that you won't have warranty. Plus, flashing video card BIOS can be a bit difficult from what I heard.

If I do encounter a problem with the "8800GTS" could I revert it back to the factory BIOS and send it in for repairs or RMA?

Chinese Specs
English Specs
The pictures are different so the cards sold in Asia and Americas are probably different as well. Also Canada Computer's isn't OC version and its specs don't match with the OC version.
So don't order the one from Canada Computer

If you guys wait a month or so, the actual GTS might drop to that price ;)

Yeah, the one I've seen mentioned in two unlocking articles specifically quotes the OC version which has specs of 600/2000, can't remember shader clocks. But that one physically has 8 mem modules.

If anyone wants to be brave and order the 600/1800 one from canada computers, go ahead, but I'm pretty positive that's not the correct one.

Is it possible to just enable the extra shaders, via a bios flash, on normal 9600gso cards?

Well if you want the complete list:
9500NP->9700Pro
9550->9600
9800SE->9800Pro
9800Pro->9800XT(Unlocks R360 Shader Optimizations)
X800Pro(Soft and Hardmod)->X800XT
X800GTO->X850XT(IIRC)
X1800GTO-X1800Pro
6200->6600 Non GT
6800LE->6800NU->6800GT
7900GTO->7900GTX
8600GSO->8800GT

Not to count the FireGL and Quadro softmods that give you a damn good deal on workstation cards.

You forgot the X800GT, which I believe could be modded to several different versions of the X800/X850 lineup depending on what kind you got.
