would anybody know where to buy empty server boxes so that I can ship a couple Dell R710's and not have them arrive all screwed up? or have any ideas? I already checked the UPS Store and they are useless, they wanted to use peanuts 😱 .

I would try to find a box large enough to give 4" of clearance in any direction. Then you need to find some kind of medium density Styrofoam to cut up into sections and pack it with. If you are shipping server rails with it, then make sure the rails are tightly packed as well.

If you want to try and get original boxes try calling small companies around town and ask to speak with IT. I'm sure if you find someone with a stack of boxes laying about they will be happy to leave them outside the building for you to come pick them up.

edit: Try asking around with friends, see if they can talk to their IT guys and find some boxes for you.

Had a lot of plates/bowls/ceramics shipped over Christmas. Amazingly, none were broken. Even with the USPS trying to destroy the packaging.

Bubble wrap + peanuts. Lots of both.

The new dell I just got only has their foam wrap structure thingy....it must have a real name.

Worse come to worse, get two boxes. You pack the R710 in one with adequate protection, then fill the bigger box with shipping materials and put the boxed up box in there.

Yo dawg, I heard you like boxes...

Just get some foam cushioning material. Lay it in the bottom of the box. Put the Dell inside. Put more of the foam cushioning on the sides and over the top. Just be sure whatever box you decide to use that the sides and bottom are strong and taped together very well.
