How to share files over a VPN

I am trying to setup a VPN server in windows XP, and I dont know if it is possible, but it sais I have a connection for Incoming PCs and my friend was able to connect to it...I just dont know what to do from here. How do we use it or share files, etc....?

Same way you share if he was local because as far as IP's are concerned, he is.
