Just purchased the Dlink DI-524 wireless router along with the Dlink DWL-G630 PCMCIA card.
Everything works great, but I have a question regarding WEP. Now, on the web-based management console, there's a line called "Authentication" Options are Open System, Shared Key, and WPA-PSK. Which one should I choose? Under "Open System" it asked if I want WEP Encryption (128Bit or 64Bit). Obviously I chose 128Bit with Key type HEX. Then I input s string of words/numbers under Key1. What's Shared Key and WPA-PSK? Are they better? Under WPA-PSK, I am prompted for a paraphrase? Where do I input this in the wireless card? As it stands now I input the same HEX code as the one found on the router.

The details of setting up a wireless network, such as security, is very painful. Sometimes, the thing is case sensitive (NETGEAR is different than netgear). Open/Shared/etc.... who has time to read the freaking manual?

Newer G routers and cards now come with their new software that does not allow Windows XP to configure the wireless network (good/bad?). Unless you setup 10 of these in a day for a living, your network would encounter drop off's and problems during the first few weeks while you "tweak" it.
