I have a network setup at my inlaws' house that consists of a cable modem going to an unsecured wireless router which then goes to a wired router. The wired router has a number of wired clients, as well as a wireless AP attached. Basically, an unsecured wireless network on the front end with a secured wired/wireless network behind. I know that the unsecured wireless isn't a good idea, but for a variety of reasons it needs to be there.
Anyway, what I'd like to do is be able to use remote desktop to connect to PCs on the wired network. Normally, with just one router, I'd reassign the remote desktop ports of the various machines (4000, 4001, etc) and then just connect using xxx.xxx.x.x:400x. I'd also setup port forwarding on the router so that :4000 goes to PC1 (192.168.0.100), :4001 to PC2 (192.168.0.101). However, I am not sure how to do this with two routers.
Do I just setup port fowarding on the first router (call it 192.168.0.1) to foward 4000, 4001, etc to the second router (call it 192.168.1.1) which then forwards the various ports to the correct local IPs? Will this work? Thanks.
