How to setup new HD?

title says it all. Its a brand new WD800 that came right out of the package. The computer detects it and i set the jumper to slave but it still wont show up on My Computer. It doesnt even have a partition style/status/type.I believe i have to set it up using some sorta DOS commands? Anyone know how to do this? What files i need to set it up and such such?
 
If you are in Windows XP or 2000 goto Admin tools(usually under control panel), computer management, then disk management. You should see it there and be able to partition it, select drive letters, name it, etc.
