How to setup a ftpserver behind a SMC router?

I'm using 192.168.2.11 ip and having 3 other computers connected to SMC router. I was wondering how to setup a ftpserver for my computer for outside people inorder they can have an access to it? They can't find my ftp.. In the router, there's public port and private port. What does that means? Anyone using SMC router plz help me out

First of all, this topic belongs to Networking sections, and not General Hardware.

Secondly, you will need to open port 21 on your router (or whichever port you want to use for your FTP) and redirect requests for port 21 to your computer, which is 192.168.2.11. Tell people your external IP in order for them to connect to your FTP.
