How to set up SNMP

I am a network Administrator for a company with 12 servers and about 150 users with 10 sites. The network was crap when I got here about a year ago. We just got a HP Procurve 4000 and it came with HP TopTools for network Mgt. I have never used SNMP or other Mgt. tools. Does anybody know where I should start? LInks, books, anyting.


Also should I change the community name from Public? I am assuming I should.

First thing you should do is make sure your snmp stuff is all up to date. There was a recent security hole in it and I dont want to see you get cracked
