How to see how much RAM is in which slot without opening the PC?

I've got a laptop that I'd like to upgrade as far as RAM..but I need to know how many sticks are in there. I'm pretty positive I ran an application either in Windows or in Linux that told me how many slots I had, and what was in them.. I just can't remember what the heck it was. Does anyone know of anything?

Is there a Linux app that will do the same thing? I just remembered one of the laptops has Slackware installed on it..
