How to Run CD ROM with CD RW

I would like to know if my set up is correct. I have a plextor CD RW and have it set up as master on secondary and my CD ROM as my slave, is this correct? It runs ok, but i think i would like to run games or other CDs off CD ROM Drive and use the CDRW to write disks only. Is my thinking correct or am I way off?

No you are right personally I would leave the writer as master ,but it doesn't really affect it that much. I prefer to have them on different busses, cdr/rw on scsi, cd/dvd on ide

Yeah you should have your harddrive and CDRW as Masters, and leave your CD-Rom as Slave...

i have two masters one hd and my plexxy and 2 slaves another hdand my ol 36X....thatI want to get rid of becuz it sucks! my 2 cents... it works fine too.

Thanks for your conformation. Do you run your CDs on your CD RW, in the case of games or music. Why not use CD ROM for this, if not what is CD ROM really used for.
