How to run a SCSI PCI controller and a PCI IDE RAID controller in the same system and have all drives recognized by OS?

Hi folks...

A little issue I came across about two months ago already but haven't had time to look into...

I would like to add more storage to my system. The system is currently running with two 36.7GB SCSI drives on a PCI SCSI controller.
I'd like to use a Promise FastTrak 100 TX2 to RAID0 two or four WD1200JBs, in addition to the SCSI drives, which are already in the system.
I've tried it, with a full Win2K Pro installation, and since both cards have their own BIOSes, only the SCSI drives (which are the ones that are detected during boot-up) are actually available under Windows.

Any ideas as to how to make all of the drives usable in Windows?

I'd greatly appreciate the help.

make sure your IDE raid controller doesnt have an IRQ conflict. Most of them hate to share with anything else. Does the raid controller itself detect in windows? Do you have the latest drivers installed? Does the bios come up and allow you to setup the array? Have you fdisked and formatted the array?

No, the problem is that the RAID card's BIOS doesn't come up in the first place, because the SCSI card seems to take over.

the ide raid controller should be in a higher slot than the scsi controller.
then the bios should come up.

It was and it still didn't work. The issue is that I want all drives to work, including my two SCSI drives and the IDE drives. Now, in order for this to be done, Windows obviously needs to load the drivers prior to booting. I guess it cannot do that unless the boot-up goes through both cards' BIOSes.

It could be video bios causing this. I run 3 SCSI controllers. First try and pull out the SCSI card and see if the IDE controller bios is then enabled.. if so its prolly a setting in the system bios. Check and see if there is an FAQ question on this problem at the manufacturers site. But you first should see that the bios for the IDE controller works with no other SCSI devices running. If not the controller itself could be the problem or an IRQ conflict with the PCI slot it is in. In fact you should even visit the MOBO manufacturers site for other possible solutions. Some controllers will conflict with others.
