Does anyone know of any surefire method to pull machine information remotely (notably the serial number) from Dell Poweredge servers? I can dameware into the boxes I need and see from the system info that they're poweredge 2450 servers but that's it. I've tried using scripts to pull back the serial numbers from these servers through wmi but every time the script runs the serial number information is blank (the script returns other info without a problem, just not what I need which is the serial #).
Does anyone happen to know if there's something up with the 2450 line of Poweredge's that might prevent me from seeing this information, or could it be something with the way my company configured these servers?
