How to reset security lockout password on a Palm?

I just bought a Palm m500 from a friend... he forgot to tell me what the password was and I'm wondering if there's any way around it. I can wait till I talk to him next, but I'd like to start playing with it now =) Any ideas? (the reset button in back doesn't erase that password)
 
you need to do a Hard reset.
press the power switch as you reset the palm from behind then release the power switch

This however will erase any programs or documents he may have installed.
It resets to the factory defaults. Kind of like a fresh install.
