How to replace the headliner my in car?

All the fabric covering the headliner of my car is starting to fall out. I was wondering what the best way is to remove it and then replace it. Suggestions? (that work)

how did that happen? too many feet hitting it? 😉
 
it's called the headliner. You can tear it down but chances are you won't do a good job. Is it just falling down or is it disgusting? I'm sure theres some type of glue or rivet/tab things you could use to hold it up, but i know nothing.
 
I had a buddy who just grabbed the staple gun and started going to town on the roof of his car. The headliner stayed up but needless to say it looked pretty metallic and once in a while you'd get your ass poked by staple that fell down.
 
I've seen that done, but I wanted to do something more permanent...I was thinking of getting indoor/outdoor carpeting and mounting it over the old headliner...
 
I thought this only happened to GM's. Oh well

Take off the trim, take down the headliner. If it's like in cars I've had it's just a big piece of fitted cardboard, should come down as one big piece. When you get it down peel the fabric off, go to a hobby store and get a can of adhesive spray. Follow directions, fit the cloth back in place, then replace headliner next day. If it's not a fabric over cardboard like that then the staple gun idea might be an option.
 

being a more modern car, it's going to be a base with a covering (older style used wire ribs).

You get the headliner down, pull the old off and recover with foam backed cloth and adhesive....(these can be bought for $30 with the can of adhesive being 75% of the cost). Link to the Headliner kits

Or most cities have headliner repair for under $80.

The thing is if you crease the 'board' you are screwed, the crease will show through.

You can't recover over it since the original cover is sagging and anything you attach without removing it will fall also.

Good luck, let me know if you want more advice....I elected to have it redone professionally (I even had the glue, but my interior is a limited run of 1500)...however asshat didn't redo my vanity mirrors.

 
Had that happen to my car too... 🙁 ...just got it replaced for $80. 🙂 I don't think i wouldve done a good job taking it off...especially getting it out of the car beforehand. There's lots of guides on the net though. Good luck.
